LeakLeekのようなサウンドは世界中どこを探しても見つからない

独特の音楽構成を中心としたLeakLeekの新作「Leek」EPがリリースされる。ポジティブパンクの影響を受けた名古屋の元Normalsのベース/ボーカリストの前田とバイオリニストの照手、ミュージカルソー奏者のチャーリー(Nicfit)、新ドラマーのアキト、これが最後のレコーディングとなるベースのカゲの5人による編成での作品だ。

前作「Leak」に続き、バンドのサイケデリックで実験的な側面をより深く掘り下げたサウンドとなっており、プサルテリー、カリンバ、シンセなどの新しい楽器を取り入れてサウンドを拡張している。この新作カセットEPのA面では、バンドが以前のリリースで開発してきたエキセントリックなサイケデリックパンクサウンドをさらに探求しており、B面では、ブレヒト&ワイルの古典的な「アラバマソング」に彼らのユニークなキャラクターをあてがい、彼らの無意識の中でのローファイ宇宙旅行をしているようだ。

No one in the world sounds like LeakLeek.

Centred around the distinctive musical setup of bass/vocalist Maeda and violinist Terute, formerly of positive punk-influenced Nagoya outfit Normals and musical saw player Charley (Nicfit), Leakleek’s new “Leek” EP also marks the first recordings with new drummer Akito and the last with second bassist Kage.

It follows their previous release “Leak” with a sound that dives deeper into the band’s psychedelic and experimental side, expanding their sound to incorporate new instruments such as psaltery, kalimba and synth. Side A of this new cassette release sees the band further exploring the eccentric psychedelic punk sound they have developed over their previous releases, while side B applies their unique character to Brecht & Weill’s classic “Alabama Song” and taking a lo-fi cosmic trip into their own unconscious.
