Grandma's Garden: Sweet Dystopian Daydreams

2024年秋、Grandma’s Gardenが東京で結成され、デビューEPをリリース！荒々しいギターリフと独特のポップ感を核としたサウンドで、バンドは日本のインディーシーンに突如現れた。
フロントを務めるギタリスト／ボーカリストのナカヤマサキは、ニュージーランドのインディーシーンで研鑽を積み、帰国後にドラマーのスミタヨウヘイ（ドン・マルティネス、ex-jailbird Y、ex-Compact Club）と邂逅。二人の出会いが、このバンドの始まりとなった。
デビューEPでは、Queens of the Stone AgeやPJ Harveyからの影響を背景に、自らの感性で磨き上げたガレージ・ストーナーロックを提示。制御不能なエネルギーを込めながら、ポストパンク由来のダンサブルなグルーヴ、Pixiesに通じる静と動のダイナミクス、そしてThe White Stripesを想起させるダーティなガレージ感を併せ持つ。
レコーディングにはAdam Gyenes（Oversleep Excuse）が参加。二人の初期衝動を余すことなく捉えたこの作品は、Call And Response Recordsからのリリースとして発表され、Grandma’s Gardenは同レーベルの新たなラインナップに加わった。
本EPには、ギター／ボーカルのサキによる歌詞とイラストを収録したA6サイズのフルカラーのZineも同梱されている。
Grandma’s Garden debuted in Tokyo in autumn 2024 in a flurry of raw riffs, and quirky pop fizz.
Guitarist/vocalist Saki Nakayama cut her teeth in the New Zealand indie circuit, before returning to Japan and meeting drummer Yohei Sumita (Don Martinez, ex-jailbird Y, Compact Club). On this debut EP, the duo draw inspiration from artists like Queens of the Stone Age and PJ Harvey in crafting their stripped-down style of garage-stoner rock. They deliver this with a jittery energy and pop sensibility that also recalls the more danceable end of post-punk, the quiet-loud dynamics of the Pixies, and inevitably the dirty garage-punk of The White Stripes.
The duo worked with engineer Adam Gyenes (Oversleep Excuse) to capture this early explosion of creative energy, and quickly found a natural home for themselves on Call And Response Records for this debut release.
The EP also comes with a full-colour A6 zine including lyrics and illustrations by guitar/vocalist Saki.
